Estimated current power
Shows the current whole-device watt estimate from the menu bar.
macOS menu bar power monitor
A lightweight macOS power monitor for the menu bar.
See estimated wattage and calendar-based energy usage without leaving the menu bar.
Power, at a glance
Shows the current whole-device watt estimate from the menu bar.
Integrates stored samples into calendar-based Wh and kWh usage.
Records sleep, wake, and dark wake intervals beside observed power usage.
See the current macOS thermal status: Normal, Elevated, Caution, or Critical, with Unavailable when it cannot be determined. Expand the section to view up to three recent changes during this run. The section starts collapsed, and the history clears when Astra quits. Use the power estimate and thermal status together as reference information. Astra does not automatically diagnose throttling or its cause.
Built for the menu bar
Astra keeps the routine short: click the menu bar item, check the estimate or energy window, refresh when needed, and get back to work.
Local by design
Samples are stored under ~/Library/Application Support/Astra/.
Astra keeps recent local samples small and bounded.
Install from signed and notarized GitHub Release builds, not source archives.
An estimate, clearly labeled
macOS does not provide a public API for exact whole-device wattage on every Mac. Astra currently
uses the SMC PSTR signal and labels the result as an estimate.
