Power, at a glance

Current watts, calendar energy, and sleep intervals in one small surface.

Estimated current power

Shows the current whole-device watt estimate from the menu bar.

Today, this week, this month

Integrates stored samples into calendar-based Wh and kWh usage.

Sleep and wake context

Records sleep, wake, and dark wake intervals beside observed power usage.

Built for the menu bar

Open it, read it, close it.

Astra keeps the routine short: click the menu bar item, check the estimate or energy window, refresh when needed, and get back to work.

Local by design

No accounts, no remote telemetry, no network-backed analytics.

Local storage

Samples are stored under ~/Library/Application Support/Astra/.

Thirty-day window

Astra keeps recent local samples small and bounded.

Clear release boundary

Install from signed and notarized GitHub Release builds, not source archives.

An estimate, clearly labeled

Astra reports a practical power estimate, not a calibrated meter reading.

macOS does not provide a public API for exact whole-device wattage on every Mac. Astra currently uses the SMC PSTR signal and labels the result as an estimate.

Install

Requires macOS 14.0 or later.

Download signed and notarized DMG builds from GitHub Releases when they are available.
